National Reform Programme (NRP)

National Reform Programme (NRP)

The National Reform Programme provides an overview of the policy measures and economic reforms currently being implemented in Malta, including those addressing the Country Specific Recommendations (CSRs) received from the previous year’s European Semester process. The main economic issues are also highlighted, together with reports on Malta’s progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), updates on the utilisation of EU funds, and developments in the European Pillar of Social Rights.

The Research and School Internal Review Directorate (RSIRD) plays a crucial role in the NRP process by gathering and inputting feedback/data from various departments/entities within the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation (MEYR). This ensures that the information presented is precise, comprehensive, and reflects the government’s initiatives and strategies to achieve both national and European goals.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) UNESCO

Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) seeks to ensure access to equitable and quality education through all stages of life. In 2015, The Education 2030 Framework for Action, called all countries to establish ‘appropriate intermediate benchmarks to serve as quantitative goalposts for review of global progress vis-à-vis the longer-term goals’.

The Sustainable Development Indicators set by the United Nations (UN) are all based on internationally approved methodologies. The Research and School Internal Review Directorate collects and analyses data regarding Malta’s achievement of SDG 4. It informs the setting of Malta’s benchmarks on SDG4 and monitors Malta’s progress towards meeting these targets.
